Unique material composition- This feature uses 100% polypropylene, a non-woven fabric, to achieve impermeability to bed bugs and other pests. This material ensures that these pests remain locked in or out of your box-spring.
What does this really mean? This material will provide total protection from anything it encases and will be impermeable to external objects.
BugLock ™ with Secure Seal- Offers a three-sided zipper system with micro-zipper teeth specifically designed to prevent bed bugs from weaving their way through the closed zipper. This is especially important for nymph bed bugs that are only one millimeter small. The Bug Lock™ feature is designed with raised padding underneath the zipper end stop, which creates an impassable seal. The seal prevents passage of bed bugs into and out of the encasement even if the zipper clasp slightly pulls away from the zipper end stop.
What does this really mean? Bed bugs will be unable to migrate in or out of the encasement and will not have access to your box-spring. Additionally, these features make the zipper system tamper resistant and will ensure the greatest level of protection of any box-spring encasement on the market. The three-sided seal makes installation a breeze.
Why do you need this product?
The single most likely area to find bed bugs: Many people suffering from bed bug infestations or seeking to protect themselves from infestation believe that the mattress is the most important part of the bed to encase. While mattresses are extremely important to encase, it is even more important to encase the box-springs as they are the ideal living area for bed bugs. Box-springs offer bed bugs multiple hiding areas in the form of cracks, crevices and corners. In addition, the box-spring is close to the bed bugs feeding source and remains largely undisturbed, making it an ideal location to lay eggs.
Save your existing box-spring: Many people are under the misconception that the solution to a bed bug problem is to throw away the bed. This is false—bed bugs are rarely ever limited to just the box-spring and more typically inhabit surrounding locations in addition to the box-spring. In fact, improperly moving the box-spring out of the home can actually spread the infestation further.
Unless bed bugs have been completely eradicated from the home, beds that have been purchased as replacements will also become infested by pests still present in the home. Using an encasement will not only kill the bed bugs currently infesting the box-spring, but also prevent future box-spring infestations and prevent unnecessary expense.
Discarding your box-spring: If you decide to discard your box-spring, it is advised that you use a disposal encasement specially designed to prevent spreading the bed bug infestation throughout your apartment or residence.
Early Detection- Encasements can serve as an excellent early detection tool. The flat-white color of the encasement makes it easy to identify the warning signs of an infestation. In addition to the color, these encasements offer no hiding places for bed bugs that you would find on other brands of box-springs encasements. These hiding places can include tag pockets, handles, seams or edges. Protect-A-Bed encasements will ensure that bed bugs remain vulnerable and easy to detect earlier. Catching an infestation earlier will make it easier and more affordable to treat.
Proactive and reactive use: Encasements are an excellent proactive counter measure to minimize the effects of an infestation through early detection. They are also a valuable reactive measure if you discover an infestation because it will kill any encased bed bugs over time.
Must Bundle This Item: A box-spring encasement should always be used with a mattress encasement. Leaving the mattress un-encased permits access to you and your mattress. For total protection, both the mattress and box-spring must be encased.
