Protect-A-Bed BugLocktm Mattress Encasement Study
Studies have shown that Protect-a-Bed Bug LockTM Bed
Encasements do not allow immature or adult bed bugs to escape a
completely closed Bug-Lock encasement or provide them with the ability to bite
through the fabric that composes the mattress encasement. When
fully zipped closed, an encasement you can
successfully prevent bed bugs from gaining access into the encased bedto
your bed or escaping from an
already encased bed. Also, if bed bugs are closed in the encasement, they
cannot feed through the fabric that composes the mattress encasement.
In the escapability study, when the encasements were not
completely closed, 45 bed bugs were able to escape the mattress while 75 bed
bugs escaped the box spring. When the encasements were completely closed, no
bed bugs were able to escape the encasements.

In the bite study, 4 different fabrics were tested and it
was shown that bed bugs could only bite through fabric 4. This fabric was thus
eliminated from being used to compose the encasements.

In conclusion, bed bugs could not escape the Protect-a-Bed Bug Lock™ Bed Encasements or
bite through the fabric that composes the mattress encasement. This suggests
that these encasements would be a valuable asset to any bed bug control
program.
